oracle 11.2.0.2 (patch?)

1 Patch Set Overview

Starting with the 11.2.0.2 patch set, Oracle Database patch sets are full installations of the Oracle Database software. This means that you do not need to install Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2.0.1) before installing Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2.0.2).

 

So this makes things easier. Why call it a patch if it is a full base installation? It sure makes things a bit easier since now we only have to install this, without first having to install 11.2.0.1.

Why not just the parts as recognizable downloads? When downloaded all it gives 4.9GB. When unzipped you get a folder for database, grid, clients, gateways, examples and deinstall. The download is available if you have access to My Oracle Support - MOS and is recommended for all using 11.2.0.1.
